25/03/08, Ipoh – Kg.Tawas – Bomba rescuers and volunteer searchers have found no trace of the 12 years old school boy who fell into monsoon drain and went missing since 21/03/08. Today morning, I visited the boy’s family in their house near Kg.Tawas and went speechless after meeting the father.
I was informed that more than 100 people’s from all walks of life including Malays, Chinese and Indian’s from Kg.Tawas area are involved in the search for the demised body along the river side. I really appreciate and would like to thank all of them who are involved in this search.
Though no traces were found around the river spot I have requested the Bomba rescuers to continue with the search till get the boy’s body.
Quickly provide the remedial to avoid flood in Taman Merdeka
25/03/08, Ipoh- Pejabat Menteri Besar Perak – For the past 10 years their grievances has not been attended to and today the residents of Taman Merdeka again raised the flooding issue with the newly appointed YAB Menteri Besar Perak Ir.Jamalludin asking to provide the remedial works to avoid the floods in their housing area.
The MB was not in the office but relayed the message to his special assistant En.Azlan to handle the matter. Later, we had the meeting in the conference room which was chaired by En.Azlan. As a representative for the residents, Mr. Bala explained the current flood situation in their residential area and unveils their proposal to meet up with the JPS and DBI authorities to discuss further on the remedial works. He also expressed his unhappiness against Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat for their inefficiencies.
In addition to the constant worry that every storm is a potential flood and also many families in Taman Merdeka were significantly set back financially by the cost of flood damage repairs and increase in water bills. The recent weather has resulted in flood for at-least 4 times a week which really caused economical inconveniences for the residents.
At the end of the session, I personally requested En.Azlan to arrange for another round of meeting with JPS and DBI authorities to provide the engineering report to solve this flooding issue in Taman Merdeka asap.

YB Kula Segaran
I kindly hope that the Merdeka Gdn Flood which has been for decades will be solved soon.
I would also like to bring to your attention that Tmn Cherry is facing the same problem for the past 30 years.
Recently the DBI did some new drainage system but still the situation is worse especially at the Rukun Tetangga Centre where a Tabika Class is also located.
I hope and believe that YB will meet and solve with the DBI as we are not staying near a river, only the drains have to deepened or other ways to solve it.
Plse take me along if necessary
YB I am sure this will be solved with your leadership.
Thanks
Resident Tmn Cherry
