I spoke at Au Long, Taiping on 30thJanuary2008. Among the matters spoken were
1) Demand the release of the HINDRAF 5
2) SPR should ensure all the 17000 newly registered be eligible voters to vote in the coming elections
Malaysian former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad on Tuesday said the government should talk to the Hindraf leaders, not arrest them under the ISA.
He also said the corruption and vote buying will be rampant in the next election.
Dr Mahathir said BN coalition member the Malaysian Indian Congress was not properly representing the Indians.
The Hindraf rally was one of several streets demonstrations that have shaken the government in recent months, along with an election reform rally that drew more than 30,000 protesters.
These are very serious observation by the former Prime Minister who knows better to urge Prime Minister Abdullah Badawi to release the five Hindraf leaders.
He said the Hindraf protest happened because the government failed to listen to the Indian people grievances.
How true is Dr Mahathir’s observation.
Abdullah must heed this wise advice and release the Hindraf leaders immediately and without any condition. He should open dialogues with the Indian community based on the 18-points memorandum Hindraf had submitted to him in August last year.
We urge the Prime Minister to urgently set up a Parliamentary Select Committee to investigate this matter, release the Hindraf leaders and begin a proper study to help the Indian community based on the 18-points memorandum.
Only this action will ease the anger the Indian community is feeling and clearly expressed during the Nov 25 protest, boycott of Thaipusam at Batu Caves on January 23 and next will show their anger at the general elections expected din mid-March.
Are the 17000 who registered with the SPR in the last quarter eligible to vote in the coming elections?
The Elections Commission Chairman has announced that over seventeen thousand have registered as voters between the months of October-December2008 but these voters may not be eligible to vote in the coming elections as “investigations could not be completed by then”. This is really disappointing. Or are the 17000 new voters perceived as going to vote against the Barisan in the coming elections. Why it takes such a long time to verify and gazette the new voters? We urge the SPR to speed up the process and gazette all the eligible voters so that they can vote in the coming elections. The SPR should if the need be employ more staff for this purpose. The SPR wants powers to sue those who make “wild allegations” against the SPR. Instead of trying to shield from criticisms the SPR should come clean and do its primary work of gazetting eligible voters the soonest possible.
The SPR spends over RM80 million a year to carry out voter registration exercise. All this is shear waste of tax payer’s money as all the particulars of eligible voters could be obtained from the National Registration Department and the data could be used to up date the records of the SPR.
In countries like New Zealand and in many other countries:
a voter can register as a voter a day before elections and why this is not the case in Malaysia;
can register as a voter by email but this not possible in Malaysia;
The SPR chief has traveled widely around the globe to witness the election process but the question is why the good practices in those countries are not implemented in Malaysia? Recently we met him in Ipoh and he had just come back after the Australian general elections but nothing has changed since then.

Mahathir has been the main culprit of what we are experiencing today. He ruled with an iron fist for the last 2 decades and cultivate a “culture” of ISA, corruptions, cronism, nepotism and judicial bickering in which the current adminstration finds it difficult to resist, as absolute power tend to corrupt absolutely, even worse, play with the tune of the “culture”. Why only he(Mahathir) retires then only soften his approach? What can he do to reverse this “culture” that he has created? Remember what he told the Royal Commission of Inquiry recently that he can’t remember anything when he testified at the inquiry? Isn’t that the “denial culture” that he has created and continue to fool the Malaysian public till today? A great man many Malaysians seems to perceived him after he retires, the greater the sins what he has created in the last 2 decades.

Oh yes, taking about SPR, I don’t trust the SPR in conducting the coming election, or even the past general elections. Not only that, I believe there’s a conspiracy to rigged the votes and the results in every single general elections in favour of the ruling coalitions starting with the great man himself, Tun Dr Mahathir. Call me paranoid, but I think the general elections results are the OBVIOUS AND BIGGEST CORRUPTION SCANDAL in Malaysia even though we are fooled to believe it’s not so, as everything, the method, procedure and admintration of the general elections are always clouded with sheer secrecy.

Dear Kula,
As mentioned by you, recently you met the EC chairman in Ipoh but everything remains the same. Why ? because no matter how many elections this idiot observes, he will not do anything to jeopardize his master (read UMNO). Moreover as the saying goes “Old dogs can’t learn new tricks”.

Dear Sir, I am sorry to use this avenue in writing
something totally unrelated to this article. But your email box is full and hence cannot be reached. Thus I have resorted in this way. The reason for my mail is ‘help for indians’.
There are many of our Indian people who need help. These receive partial help from Jabatan Kebajikan, NGOs etc.
I represent a couple of friends who help our Indians. We are doing our bit for our community.
As you are well aware many of these (indians) would have approached DAP for help. Would you be as kind as to pass their details and information so that we could do our bit?
Please let us know their address or contact number. We will approach them and help them according to our capacity. We do not solicit any funds from anyone, we use our own money. We are not a registered body but a group of likeminded Indians who want to directly help our society. We help out of our own accord. Most of us are businessmen and professionals. Currently we are organized in Penang, Ipoh and Kuala Lumpur.
The most recent we have helped are two Indian families. One is from Menglembu. They have schoolgoing children also. In this country most NGOs are made of different races. And many fail to understand that they do not extend continuous help. They help partially alone. This is due to shortage of funds. This family needed food articles for 3 months since their father was undergoing an operation (severe cervical spondylosis). The mother is a cancer patient. We helped them.
The other is an indian girl from Sepang. She is paralysed from neck down and lives with a mother who needs dialysis. She received help from the Buddhist association and Jabatan Kebajikan. But they only ease part of her woes. She needs money for diapers and food on a monthly basis. And the worst part was she even came out in the papers (New straits times). Yet none of our Indians went forward to help her, only some chinese came forward. We have also arranged for her to get continuous support.
The rogue political party MIC is of no good for helping people. The Menglembu family told us the heartwrenching story of how Dato Rajoo humiliated them and made them wait for many hours to hand out a paltry RM50 given by the MIC. He even scolded them.
There are many of the Indians who are illiterate, poor and naive. These finally will give in to social ills. Hence we have many Indians who become gangsters etc proportionally outnumbering other races in criminal activities.
We have also approached a few schools and help those who are from poor backgrounds.
There are many of us who are willing to help like this. But due to non availability of channels and the frequent mistrust of funds (eg tsunami fund etc), many refrain from doing so. I am currently in the process of assembling more of the laypersons to help out our Indian brethren. We must help ourselves first, then we can help others.
It is for this reason that I have written to you. If there are any Indian families or people who need help and who approach the DAP bureau, kindly let us know too. My name is Natha and you could send their details to me by this e mail.
Our help encompasses these:
a) annadanam - food
b) swarnadanam - finance
c) kalvi danam- help for student and advise for the illiterate
d) adaigal danam - clothes
Most give annadanam to people who are well fed. These will thereafter stuff something into their mouth and throw the rest down, you can see this in Thaipusam. What is the point of giving medication to the healthy and food for the well fed?
Our people spend millions in funds building temples. You would have heard of the recent spate of collecting extra funds for milk abishegam in the Murugan Dandayuthapani Penang temple during Thaipusam. This is to support their temple building agenda. They already have collected a few million, they want to collect a few more million it seems, and hence the plan. When asked what the poor will do, they said that they will make an exception. Their exception works by placing a pail for the poor to pour, then they will pour it on Murugan’s head when they like it.
They have also built a huge statue of Murugan in Batu Caves. After seeing this idol are people going to seek the Murugan and meditate in droves? They will go and stand in front of it asking this and that only. The big idol will appear like the small idol when seen from far, what is the difference? When there are many poor and underclassed Indians, must we use the money to do all this nonsense? Can’t it be used for constructive means? If there are no poor amongst us we can spend for luxury, when there are so many distraught and poor Indians, can we spend our money like this? But if one can spend so much for a stone idol which neither feels hunger nor pain under the excuse of seeing god in the stone idol, can’t one see god in the moving and feeling human being?
Such temples are usually peopled with rogues who form the temple commitee and are affiliated with the MIC. These collobarate and steal the people’s donations under the pretext of building this and that.
Dear Sir, I am not telling this by mere speculation. It is the truth.
We are not affiliated with any political bodies. But suffice to say that we do not back the MIC. After going around helping the people, we hear stories of them being turned off from the MIC’s doors only. But if we keep on talking without no action, then what is the point? It defeats the whole purpose of our Hindraff brothers who went to jail.
We have also adopted some poorer temples. These are the places where the poor congregate and we can help them by being closer to them.
As such only I beseech you to kindly furnish details of needy Indians so that we can do our small part.
I would like to express and thank you in advance for your co-operation.
MAKAL SEVAI, MAHESAN SEVAI.
Yours sincerely,
Natha.

He travels just to spend our money and it s working/paid holiday….if he improves it ….then he is “breaking rank”. You see if Jabatan Pendaftaran has all the records of malaysians…that can be matched against a person who registers a day before the elections. EC processing all using papers and pens? or they are still 50 years back? How come under age voters are still in the list? Oh i see … thats why he was retained for a good job!

Susah2 balik india lee kelingggg

You will never know how deep is a pit unless you are in it. So before you start commenting that indians are ungrateful you should really need to look at your ownself first. Being an indian is something that we are very proud off. Because we had the guts and courage to fight for our rights rather than just living of what is given by others. Rights that are supposed to be enjoyed by us is being taken and lived by others. That is supposed to be shame off. So im proud to be indians and proud enough on what our fellow Hindraf are up for. Things that should have been done before is being done now with full spirit. May God be with us. To the person who left your comment on February 14, please look around you first.
