Photo Finish in Ipoh Barat. MAC/2008

We have worked hard for the people of Ipoh Barat. The Ipoh Barat parliamentary constituency also encompasses the state constituency of Buntong, Bercham and Kepayang and the DAP candidates are A.Siva, Sum Cheok Leng and Loke Chee Yan respectively.

We have brought dedication, commitment and experience to the job. The report card we are issuing today is testimony to our continuous service and hard work that we have brought to the people of Ipoh.

You can see the numerous issues that we have taken up and resolved with the local councils, Perak state government and in Parliament.

We have been vocal to defend public properties from misuse, human rights and security and safety of the constituents.

While the people voted enthusiastically in 2004 and sent M.Kula to Parliament to represent their interest but we failed to win any of the state constituencies. But in this March 8th election the scenario is different.
We are the underdog now, but fear not as we are the Fighting Underdog!
The political environment is ever changing. Our opponents are stronger and are fielding stronger candidates who have unlimited resources to pour into their election campaign.

In this respect the DAP’s resources are limited. We look for voters to understand that we fight for their rights with whatever we have and assisted by a volunteer force of dedicated party workers.

Winning of the Ipoh Barat and state constituencies have been made very difficult because of
1) The transfer of nearly 800 voters from Taman Silibin out of Ipoh Barat Constituency to Batu Gajah although in 2004 the Taman Silibin voters voted in Ipoh Barat
2) The over 2231 postal voters who are BN traditional voters and who we have no access to know them.
These and other factors have raised a question mark on our chances in the Ipoh Barat constituency.
Nevertheless we are prepared and urge voters to vote for the DAP for freedom, justice, good governance and democracy in Malaysia.
Nevertheless we will soldier on and leave it to the voters to assess our contributions to their welfare and security and safety and hope they will consider our hard work and dedication to the job and elect us to Parliament and the state assemblies respectively.
