Of late the International media has been reporting that hundreds, if not thousands, of Tamils have been rounded up and forced to move out of Sri Lanka’s capital, Colombo, under the flimsy pretext of security
Human rights organizations have very rightly condemned the move as “ethnic cleansing”.
We in the DAP very strongly condemn, without any reservation whatever, this highly racist move by the Sri Lanka Government and military. We call on the entire international community to immediately voice their strong concern and condemnation of this inhumane move by the Sri Lanka authorities, who are increasingly bankrupt of constructive initiatives for peace and justice on the island.
The ethnic cleansing move by the Sri Lanka authorities against the Tamils is a blatant violation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights of the United Nations, particularly Articles 12 and 13.
Article 12 says: “No one shall be subjected to arbitrary interference with his property, family, home…..”
Article 12: says which is even more specific, states: “Everyone has the right to freedom 1 of movement and residence within the borders of each State”.
Mahinda Rajapakse, Sri Lanka’s president, and his military generals, should realise that ethnic cleansing is a crime against humanity and that they can be arrested and tried under the International Criminal Court or some specially constituted tribunal, as has happed to the late Slobodan Milosevic of Serbia and is now happening to Charles Taylor of Liberia.
The Malaysia Government should condemn openly and strongly this crime against humanity in Sri Lanka. So should ASEAN. So should the South Asia Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) which includes India, India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and other nations.
The United Nations should tell the Sri Lanka Government that instead of resorting to ethnic cleansing, they should return immediately to peace talks with the ITTE, without preconditions.

Malaysia seem to be not aware of the etnic cleansing in sri lanka by her own govt.The sri lanka army/police/air force/navy are openly in involved in genocidal act in sri lanka.we malaysian should voice out the protest against the sri lanka govt.
